Noa van der Plas

Noa van der Plas has been working as a postdoctoral researcher within the Department of Molecular Epidemiology at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) since 2026. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and research Master’s in Biological Psychology (Genes in Behaviour and Health, cum laude) at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Subsequently, she conducted her PhD research (2021–2025) at the Department of Clinical Neuropsychology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

During her PhD research, she conducted a follow-up meeting of a longitudinal cohort study (NeuroIMAGE) of adults with an ADHD diagnosis in childhood, their siblings, and controls. Her research focused on the long-term outcomes of adults with an ADHD diagnosis in childhood, the effect of medication use in childhood on long-term outcomes, and predictive factors of long-term outcomes.

In her postdoctoral research at the LUMC, she focuses on the influence of socioeconomic factors and health behavior on healthy aging within families. To do this, she uses data from the Leiden Longevity Study (including genetic and metabolomic data) and from Statistics Netherlands (including socioeconomic factors, morbidity, and mortality).
