dr. Dina Vojinovic-Dees
Senior researcher
Dina Vojinovic- Dees (1985) was trained as a medical doctor at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Medicine, Serbia. She obtained Master of Science and Doctor of Science degrees in Health Sciences with specialization in Genetic Epidemiology at Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, where she also started her PhD in 2014 under the supervision of Prof. Cornelia van Duijn. Her research interests were directed towards exploring genetics determinants of neurological and psychiatric disorders, including stroke, dementia, autism and attention-deficit disorder. During her PhD, she gained practical experience in analyzing genetic data and handling large datasets using latest tools and techniques from genome-wide linkage, genome-wide association, next-generation sequencing and epigenetic studies. Furthermore, she gained substantial experience and knowledge in other omics fields such as metabolomics and gut microbiome. She successfully led multiple projects in several national and international consortia including CHARGE (Cohorts for Heart & Aging Research in Genome Epidemiology) and BBMRI (Biobanking and BioMolecular resources Research Infrastructure the Netherlands). In keeping with her medical background and as a part of Marie Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange, she also worked on personalized prevention of chronic diseases.
Currently, she is working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Biomedical Data Sciences at Leiden University Medical Center and the Department of Epidemiology at Erasmus University Medical Center.
