Rick Mulders

Rick Mulders started his PhD research in April 2022 at the Department of Molecular Epidemiology at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) under the supervision of Ingrid Meulenbelt and is working on the SCI-MAP project.

During his PhD research, he will focus on developing a systems understanding of chondrogenesis from iPSCs. He will use multi-omics analysis of individual cells (transcriptomics, methylomics, chromatin configuration) for this purpose. Prior to this position, he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences and his Master’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences from Utrecht University. Although he has previously conducted projects involving “omics” (proteomics, comparative genomics), this will be his first foray into osteoarthritis.
