Jeppe Severens
doctoral researcher
I completed the bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, after which I did the research master’s in Drug Innovation at Utrecht University. During my master I did an internship at the Translational Neuroscience department of the UMC Utrecht, where I did research into the hypothalamus with scRNA-seq data. Subsequently, I completed a bioinformatics profile, for which I worked at TNO to predict the toxicity of peptide drugs.
Since February 2021 I have been working as a Researcher in Training at the LUMC, with Prof. Marcel Reinders, Dr. Erik van den Akker and Dr. Marieke Griffioen as supervisors. I am part of the Leiden Center of Computational Oncology (LCCO), a LUMC-wide group with the aim of bringing computational oncology research closer to clinicians and patients. At the LCCO I work on subtype stratification of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) patients. In my PhD project I work on further identifying AML patient sub-groups, improving diagnoses and predicting prognosis. In addition, I will also work on identifying targeted therapy options for sub-groups of AML patients. For this research I use different supervised and unsupervised machine learning models, applied to different -omics data sources. These data sources are both externally and in-housegenerated.
